Highlights of 2007 |
Harman & Clara's wedding day
On the magical date of 20 July 2007, Harman Westen (Nelleke's son) and
Clara de Jong said “I do” at the château in St Izaire. The festivities
continued at La Grande Combe. Nelleke made the wedding cake, which she
worked on for 30 hours. Our friends Yves & Jackie, who run the Moulin
de Faussergues restaurant, did the catering. |

Bentleys at La Grande Combe
On 14 August Alexander Creswell, together with his
friends Willy and Kate, came to stay with us (see photo). Their two
gleaming 5m-long vintage cars had no difficulty making their way up
the 2km forest road. In the evening we sat down to a wonderful dinner
on the terrace overlooking the garden, during which Willy told us
about how he used to be a stand-in musician in a famous British
super-group. Kate was expecting and gave birth to a daughter in
December. The next morning they polished the cars, checked the oil and
water, and continued their holiday. |

What’s happening in 2008 |
Special plans
La Grande Combe will be the setting for another wedding
this year. Linde Geenen and Jeroen Klaassen are planning to hold their
wedding reception at La Grande Combe on 16 August. Our neighbours at
La Bouysse will provide accommodation for some of the guests. It has
long been Linde’s heart’s desire to get married at La Grande Combe,
having stayed here for the first time when she was about three years
old. It has become a second home of which she has fond memories |
